About Us

We aim to provide the best possible care for all the children attending our service. Here at the Little Scholars, we understand the importance of providing a supportive role to encourage the child’s overall development by ensuring they are exposed to a positive experience in a fun, safe and caring environment.

St. Michael’s Little Scholars Community Childcare offers places for a maximum of 22 children in our preschool setting, at a minimum ratio of 1 staff member to every 11 children. We currently offer sessional, half sessional & part-time places, up to a maximum of 40 children in our school age childcare services.

We provide

  • A high-quality Early Years service for children from 2 years & 6 months to 5 years of age
  • A school age childcare service for children 4-12 years of age

We endeavour to

  • Facilitate parents and children during the school holidays with Easter, Summer & Halloween camps
  • Provide a service that is affordable and accessible for all

Our childcare service is located in St. Michael’s Community Hall, a beautiful 200 year old converted church. Bright and spacious with high ceilings, it provides abundant space for our children to experience a wide range of play and learning opportunities. Our room is laid out with a series of defined interest areas, which boast a kitchen, construction corner, hairdresser, dress up area, to name but a few!

All furniture is child height and resources are age appropriate. We avail of the safe and secure outdoor area of the neighbouring national school, where the children can play on our balance bikes, scooters, slide, soccer goals and other toys, which help to make the most of the time outside. We are also lucky, in that we are only a few minutes’ walk from Donaghmoyne Playpark, which we will treat the children to when the weather is good!
